In a strange and unconventional move Cricket Wireless announced it would be start a new way to pay for its wireless service. That method is what they refer to as “weekly payments” , that’s right if you prefer to pay week-to-week for your cricket cell phone you now can! According to Leap Wireless, cricket’s parent company they will allow you to pay $18/week (7days) for unlimited service. This includes the Unlimited anytime minutes, unlimited U.S. long distance, free text and picture messaging, voicemail, caller ID, call waiting and three-way calling, as well as nationwide roaming for 39 cents per minute. The official name for this is “Cricket By Week“. In order to get the plan you can contact Cricket Customer service or alternatively go into your local cricket store. In the press release they also mention they will now offer long-distance to Mexico and Canada as low as five cents a minute.
Now, I don’t personally know anyone who would pay an extra $15 dollars a month for the conveience to pay week to week? But, I assume there might be people out there.
It should also be added that cricket charges a $15 fee to change plans.
As expected the initial public offering of Metro PCS on the New York stock exchange was a tremendous success. They raised over $1Billion dollars in funding and lists a current stock price $28.55/share , up from their initial offering of $23/share. Investors are excited of the potential of this stock when comparing with Cricket Wireless’s parent company Leap Wireless stock which has at least doubled in price every year for the past (3) years. Companies like Metro PCS and Cricket are the future of wireless. People will not be tied down with expensive overage charges, and paying for features that should be free. Cingular, Verizon, Sprint better take note because just as fast as they became popular they will go they way of the cell phone buffalo.
The highly anticipated Samsung Siren is now officially a cricket cell phone. IT is available on the cricket website for purchase at a price of $159.00 out the door which includes free shipping, no activation fee and a free month of service.
My favorite thing about this phone is the exclusive red/black color that Cricket has! This phone really stands out.
According to a joint press release from Leap Wireless and Samsung, their flagship Cricket Wireless will feature samsungs siren (SCH-a870). This is the first samsung cell phone on Cricket Wireless and could be a sign of phones to come. The phone itself features a compact and sleek design with an array of multimedia features. Such as, VGA-camera with flash and zoom, advanced voice recognition, MMS, and VibeTonz® technology, which allows users to download and feel the beat of ring tones.
A reader alerted me to this other awesome free service that you can use to easily backup your cell phone contacts incase the unthinkable might happen. IT’s called ZYB you just create an account then they send an auto configuration to your phone to syncronize your contacts. This service has alot of other useful features like keeping track of your mobile calendar and other stuff. I’m very shocked the service isn’t more widespread. IT might just save your mobile one day!
