Cricket Wireless Cell Phone Service and Plans for Cheap.

This is an announcement that has been a long time coming. Today, Cricket Wireless announced they will begin providing Unlimited Internet Service (much like AT&T and Spring currently do using special cards or adapters for your laptop computer).

According to the press release:
“Cricket will be utilizing the Kyocera Passport KPC650 modem, along with Smith Micro connection software, which are compatible with PC and Mac laptops with Windows 2000® or higher and Mac OS 10.4.10 or higher and a PCMCIA slot. The card and software will be sold as a package for $180, however, with mail-in and instant rebates, a customer can purchase the package for as low as $99. ”

This is comparable to that of Sprint or AT&T price on their wireless modems. However, the real bargain comes in the monthly service charge which will be $35-$40 dollars/month which is a significant savings over the competitor. Currently they are rolling this service out in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Nashville with more markets to come soon.
